About us

We were founded in 2000 by the first purchase of a short hair dachshund (Hahna) and 2 months later a short hair male (Hank William). I was single and needed a companion. Hahna more than fit the mold. I could not count the number of times that dog made me laugh and cry.

A laughing moment: I was a very poor nursing student, and in the process of moving into an apartment only large enough for me, Hank, and Hahna, the door bell rang. I stepped outside to talk to my neighbor on the other side of door. In the back of my mind, I was thinking, "I wonder what they are up to?" When I returned, I found a roll of toilet paper torn up into little tiny pieces--it look like it had snowed. The two of them were sitting in the middle of the mess with the most innocent look on their faces saying, "I don't know how this got here!! It wasn't me."

We have found our dogs to love us unconditionally. They are our children who sleep with us every night, and assist us in all of our activities. We would not trade them for the love and preciousness that they give to us every day and we mourn their loss. (Hank deceased Oct 2006, Mandy Sue Dec 2007). We also understand that the four-legged buddy your bringing to us is your child and baby as well. We aren't looking to compete for their affection, just love them almost as much as you do and give THEM their own vacation.

You know those best restaurants you find, the "Mom and Pop" that give you the biggest helpings and best home cooked meals? Then when you check out, the bill is half the price of the regular sit down restaurants? You get more than your money's worth in food and quality, but the decor is definitely not designer...Well, Roger and I may not have the nicest set up, but its clean and neat. We choose to put our money into the dogs and their needs. You will see the results in your bill too--half the price of most in town. If you are looking for designer, then you better keep looking, we understand that we are not for everyone. But if generic is ok for you and your dog, come check us out!! You will get your money's worth in the things your DOG actually cares about--after all, it is his vacation.
